Always remember baking soda!

A few nights ago as I was preparing dinner, I had the oven preheating. We have a flat top stove and when I saw the back burner smoking I knew something wasn't right. I was only using one of the front burners. I opened up the oven door, which is where the problem was. The element had started on fire and was sparking. I quickly put our daughter into the living room for safety. As soon as I was back at the stove I reached up and grabbed the box of baking soda. I opened up the oven door and dumped all the baking soda on the fire, which then started to spark out of the door. I quickly shut the door, grabbed our daughter, put shoes on, all while I was in the process of calling 911.

If it weren't for my Mom teaching me when I was younger how to put out a fire on the stove or in the oven I would have not thought of putting baking soda on the fire. Today's card is to thank my Mom for teaching a lot of different, useful stuff and to let her know how much she really is appreciated for all that she did while raising us.

For my card design my husband suggested that I make a stove with a flame in it, so I took up the challenge and designed this card.
I drew out my stove first before I started designing it on Silhouette Studio.

Here is a screenshot of the first part I designed for my card.

After having that part cut out, I made some oval shapes to act as the burners on the stove.

I added a black background so that when the oven door is open a message will be shown.

Here is what the stove looks like with the oven door open.

I added some flames that I purchased through Silhouette.

I used brads for the knobs on the stove back and wrote in the time.

Always remember to have baking soda on hand. You never know when you might need it. The firefighter things could have been much worse had I not quickly thought about the baking soda and thrown it on there.
