I felt like moving away from birthday cards for a little bit and chose to do a thinking of you card. The technique I chose to try I have seen on Pinterest used in different ways.
I picked out 3 different papers that I wanted to use for the card. I cut them down to 1.5" x 4.5". Then I took each rectangle and cut them in half corner to corner.
I laid out the pattern I wanted with the papers and started to glue them down so the edges of the paper overlapped just slightly.
I continued you this around the top of the card. It could be done around the whole card too as another way of using this technique. Be careful when gluing to just go to the edge of the card and not the whole piece of paper you are using.
After adhering all of the pieces I cut the tips off, as well as around the edge of the card.
I chose to emboss the yellow piece of paper at the bottom.
I added a green ribbon where the edges of the papers meet.
For the 'thinking of you' sentiment I took one of my stamp markers and colored in the lettering on my embossing folder. I chose to color in the letters so that when I embossed it a little extra color would be added to the lettering. I used my Cuttlebug to do the embossing.
This is how the embossing with the ink turned out.
Here is the front of the card all finished. I chose to put some 3D adhesive foam on the back of the sentiment to raise it up a little bit.
For the inside of the card I used my Creative Memories cutter to cut out the heart.
I look forward to sending this card out and hope the person who receives this card enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it!
